Super Smash Bros. is one of Nintendo’s most popular games, a crossover fighting game which includes many different Nintendo characters. The original Smash Bros. was released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64, and hitting the shelves with 12 different characters. Nintendo went on and released more Super Smash Bros. games for consoles such as the GameCube, Wii, 3DS, and the Wii U.
Nintendo has announced that they are releasing a fifth Smash game this year “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.” The game is for the Nintendo Switch, which is both a handheld and at home console. It is planned to be released on December 7th, 2018. Characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will include all characters from each previous Smash Bros. game. Released alongside them will be 3 new characters, Princess Daisy from Mario, Inkling from Splatoon, and Ridley from Metroid. In total, there will be 68 characters to choose from.
Aside from the 19 years worth of characters they included in this game some Nintendo fans are shocked that they did not include a certain character: Luigi’s arch-rival, Waluigi. When releasing the game Nintendo stated: “everybody is here!” Nintendo fans were unhappy to hear that Waluigi is not included in the roster. Waluigi has been included in various games from Mario Tennis for GameBoy and GameCube in 2000 to the most previous Mario Kart game which is available for the Wii U and the Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo has not yet confirmed a reason on why Waluigi is not included in the playable character list, but fans are outraged and seeking a reason why. Many have been sharing their opinion about Waluigi unexpected disappearance through memes and Twitter posts, saying that Waluigi has been wronged by Nintendo.
