UFC 196 was upset central and here’s what happened:
In the main event, underdog Nate Diaz won by submission in the second round against former champion Conor McGregor which was a surprise to most. Diaz’s next fight will most likely be against Robbie Lawler while Mcgregor will look to regain himself and make a comeback. The biggest surprise of the day came in the co-main event with Miesha Tate winning by submission in the fifth round against former champion Holly Holm. Holm previously beat the once undefeated Ronda Rousey.Tate’s next match will be against Rousey some time next year, Rousey has beaten Tate twice before.
In other fights, Ilir Latifi defeated Gian Villante by unanimous decision. Corey Anderson defeated Tom Lawlor by unanimous decision. Amanda Nunes defeated Valentina Shevchenko by unanimous decision.
Next up is UFC 197, where Jon “Bones” Jones will make his own comeback from being absent after a hit and run accident which led to jail time and many thinking he wouldn’t make it back. He will be facing off in a rematch against Daniel Cormier where Jones previously had won but had his belt lost to Cormier after the hit and run accident.
