Purpose is the fourth studio album by Canadian singer and songwriter Justin Bieber. It was released on November 13, 2015 by Def Jam Recordings and School Boy Records.

Justin started to write and record with the idea of doing an inspirational album that could encourage people through uplifting messages. The first three singles “What Do You Mean,” “Sorry,” and “Love Yourself” achieved international success and reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. 522,000 copies were sold in just the first week of release.

The album Purpose was described as a mix of dance-pop, EDM music, and R&B. The 21-year-old spent the last couple years running amok from Munich, where his pet monkey was confiscated in 2013, to Miami Beach, which was the scene of a 2014 DUI arrest. Although he survived with his health and credibility intact, he’s in no position to gloat. For his fourth album to work, he needed to seem humble, repentant, and grown up.
